Extracellular Acidification
Fluorescence-based measurement of extracellular acidification
The emission of the pH-Xtra probe is modulated by the pH of the sample. Changes in probe luminescence therefore reflect changes in extracellular pH, with decreasing pH (acidification) causing an increase in probe emission. For more detailed protocol see product spec sheet.
Use the pH-Xtra probe on it’s own to measure pH changes or multiplex with the MitoXpress™ probe to simultaneously measure oxygen consumption and pH changes on a plate-reader.
Benefits
- Provides a direct, selective, sensitive measurement of mitochondrial and cellular function and toxicity
- Simple to use, cheap, relatively high-throughput and automation friendly
- The assay is easily adopted in labs, without the need for specialised equipment
